Hong Kong

I arrived in Hong Kong last night after my 15.5 hr flight from Chicago!  Two hours after landing, I got a couple members of our team that have never been here off their plane and shuttled them over to the hotel.  Next ensued a hunt for bottled water and meeting the rest of the group!

I guess my first adventurous act was to try the 'suggested drink' at the first Starbucks I saw in the HK airport... the drink's motto was "Coffee in the Jelly; Jelly in the Coffee."  If any of you have ever had Bubble Tea, you'll have a better idea of what I'm talking about haha.  Just imagine a vanilla latte with pieces of Jello in the bottom that also slurp up through your straw.  I think it was supposed to be coffee flavored gelatin, but all I tasted was the vanilla latte!  Starbucks did have a green tea red bean cookie, too, but I haven't tried that yet... although I had a green tea muffin stuffed with red bean last year and it was pretty good.

Today we had some team meetings and wandered around the city a bit.  Get this: egg on croissant with oatmeal and coffee for breakfast, Indian curry for lunch, and finally had Chinese food for dinner!  That was spicy beef noodles.  Oh the joys of being in a former British colony.  Still excited for the sour noodle shop in our destination city though!!

Okay I really need to get to bed - 12 hrs in the future means it's almost 1am ahhh.  At least the 12 hour time difference meant that I didn't have to change my watch!

I leave for East Asia on July 8th and will be staying for a year!  Stay tuned for adventures and ramblings :)
